Four practical tips for judging battery scrap

The battery’s electrodes are made of lead and lead oxide, and the electrolyte is an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. The battery has the advantages of stable voltage and cheap price.

1.At the end of battery life, multimeters and ammeters can be used to test the voltage and current. Their values are very low, and the function of the battery is reduced. There will be a short circuit and an open circuit in the battery. You need to replace the battery with a new one.

2.In practice, the discharge capacity of the battery is less than about 60% of the rated capacity. If the function cannot be restored after repair, it needs to be scrapped. Generally, after the capacity of the battery declines to about 60%, the function will also decline significantly, and at the same time, it will soon lose all its charge and discharge capabilities.

3.When the battery is charged, severe heat generation and deformation of the casing occur. When the battery’s electrode plate is softened and deformed, the active material will fall off, and the electrolyte in the battery will become black, or even fail to recover.

4.Accidents in substations and power plants caused by insufficient battery capacity or failure often occur. It is necessary to correctly use and maintain the battery to increase the service life of the battery.
